Rat Control in Denver
Species-Specific Rat Control for Denver Metro Homes & Businesses
Absolute Pest Control has served the Denver Metro area since 1986. Family-owned and led by Linda Holmes, Parker Holmes, and Scott Harris across two generations, we provide rat control for both residential and commercial clients. Our approach starts with identifying which species is actually present, Norway rats or roof rats, then builds a treatment plan around that specific biology rather than a generic rodent protocol.
Denver ranked 10th on Orkin’s 2025 Rattiest Cities list, the first time the city has appeared in the top ten. That reflects what our technicians see in the field: rat pressure here is real, and it’s growing.
Call us at (720) 790-3303 to schedule an on-site inspection and get a treatment plan designed for your property.
Why Denver-Area Rats Are Difficult to Control
Colorado’s freeze-thaw cycles work against homeowners. Repeated expansion and contraction open micro-gaps in foundations and building materials that rats exploit to move indoors, and a rat can squeeze through a gap roughly the size of a quarter. Most entries occur between October and February, when rodents are searching for food, water, and shelter from the cold.
Knowing which species you’re dealing with changes the strategy. Roof rats are climbers that access homes from above, through rooflines, vents, and overhanging branches. Norway rats stay low, burrowing along foundations and entering through ground-level gaps. Misidentifying the species means treating the wrong entry points.
Common signs of an active infestation include droppings, gnaw marks, grease or rub marks along baseboards, and scratching sounds inside walls or attics at night. If you notice any of these, rat activity is likely already established.
Our Rat Control Process in Denver
Every service starts with a comprehensive on-site inspection. We identify active rat activity, map entry points, and assess the conditions contributing to the problem. From that inspection, we build a targeted treatment plan rather than pulling from a generic price list.
Our approach follows Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles, combining habitat modification, entry-point sealing, and targeted product application rather than routine broad-spectrum treatments. IPM reduces unnecessary chemical use while addressing the conditions that allow rats to establish themselves on a property. Seasonal follow-up visits are built into the plan to account for Colorado’s shifting rodent activity patterns.
Training & Industry Standards Behind Our Work
Our licensed technicians are trained specifically for Colorado’s climate and ecosystem. That matters because seasonal rat behavior here differs from what national protocols are built around. Absolute Pest Control is a member of the National Pest Management Association and is actively involved in the Colorado Pest Control Association, the state’s leading pest management organization. Both affiliations reflect a commitment to current industry standards.
We invest in our employees and maintain a stable team. That stability benefits clients directly: the same technicians build familiarity with your property over time, which supports both identification and follow-up accuracy.
Hear From Our Happy Customers
A Reputation Built on Consistency
Absolute Pest Control maintains strong ratings across multiple review platforms and holds industry accreditations that recognize our professionalism. Many clients have relied on our services for years. That kind of long-term relationship isn’t accidental: it reflects what happens when a team stays stable, follows through on seasonal visits, and treats each property as its own situation rather than a recurring ticket.
Most of our growth has come through referrals. When clients recommend us to neighbors dealing with rat problems, it’s because the service has held up over time, not just on the first visit.
